Rosenbrand Image Works

Rosenbrand Image Works is the photography project of Albert Rosenbrand, a graphic designer and former creative director. His passion for photography began in the early 1980s, when black-and-white film was still developed and printed by hand in the darkroom. After studying graphic design, he began his career as a photographer's assistant before moving into an international career in advertising and design. More recently, his focus has returned to analogue photography. Not out of nostalgia, but from a renewed fascination with the unique character of film. The collection brings together photographs from different periods. Black-and-white work from the 1980s is combined with colour photography from the early 2000s onwards. The images were captured on a variety of film formats and carefully scanned from the original negatives. Film borders, sprocket holes, edge markings and other traces of the original negatives are often deliberately retained as part of the final composition. Over the years, a wide range of analogue cameras has been used, from a Praktica Super TL and a Lomo LC-A to more recent Lomography cameras, exploring different film formats and photographic techniques. Digitally brought back to life from the original negatives, with respect for the character of film.
