Along Crosby Beach and into the sea are one hundred identical life-size cast iron figures, modelled on Antony Gormley's body, standing up straight, looking out to sea. Some are partially submerged with the rising of the tide. The Rising Tide, created by Jason DeCaires Taylor, depicted a series of working horses with riders situated on the banks of the River Thames. It was positioned within sight of the Houses of Parliament as part of the 2015 Totally Thames Festival. The tidal works were loosely based on the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. They were revealed and partially concealed by the daily ebb and flow of the river. I decided to merge these two images because although I have taken many images of both I wanted to be able to see them together in one place! London and Liverpool are the two places I spend the most time and I love both the installations. Unfortunately The Rising Tide is no longer by the Thames.
