I have always been drawn to the coast with my camera. Over the years, as time has moved on, my affinity with the shoreline has remained constant. The Carmarthenshire coast offers endless photographic opportunities, from wide estuaries to golden beaches. Whether bathed in sunshine or shaped by storms, there is nothing more rewarding than exploring its ever-changing landscapes.
Four years ago, I made the decision to shoot exclusively on film, embracing the process without any digital editing. After finding a trusted lab that I work closely with, this approach has allowed me to spend more time outdoors with my camera and less time in front of a screen, while preserving the organic qualities of film and vintage equipment.
All of the cameras I use are restored classics, the oldest dating back to 1939. Many rely on no batteries or electronics, just pure mechanical engineering. From the weight of the brass bodies and the clunky sound of the shutter, to the frame lines in the viewfinder, each brings a unique character, quirks, and imperfections. Shooting with them is not only creative but magical, a timeless experience.
